Art Mandai was started in 2016 to create a space for art in Pune and prompt conversations about the heritage market place Mahatma Phule Mandai.
 

Art Mandai is held annually on January 26th at Mahatma Phule Mandai, Shukrawar Peth, Pune. On this day art is exhibited and sold alongside vegetable and fruit vendors, aiming to break hierarchies and expand art conversations beyond gallery spaces. The objective is to make authentic and affordable art accessible to the public in a public space, fostering connections between people and original artwork.

Every year, Art Mandai chooses a theme, which artists and performers interpret with their artistic sensibilities.
